Star Wars Crochet Cozy Series – Part 15 – Padme Amidala

Star Wars Characters

Hello everyone! I have taken up the task of making more Star Wars coffee cozies. It’s been a while since I’ve taken this up, and I decided to start up again because I want to get through more characters this year than I did last year. Lucky for me, there are plenty of awesome characters in the Star Wars universe to choose from. For this cozy, as I’m sure you’ve seen, I decided to make Queen Padme Amidala. (Click the picture below to go to the Star Wars site for details about her.)

The Queen’s Gown

Any Star Wars fan will know that Queen Amidala had many amazing costumes throughout her appearances in episodes I, II, and III. So which to choose? Well, as much as I like a wide array of her outfits, I decided to make the cozy with her in the first dress she is seen in. Let’s jump right into it.

  3. The panel and head piece are going to have simple embroidery stitches: chain stitches and back stitches.
  4. In the main cozy, the first chain of each round does not count as the first stitch.
  5. The numbers in the brackets at the end of the instructions note the number of stitches that need to be in that round upon completion.
  6. An increase is 2 single crochets made into 1 stitch.

Attaching the Pieces

Collect all your pieces to attach them to the main piece.

1. Using the tapestry needle and 1 yard of chocolate-brown yarn, center the front panel piece on the main cozy. Keep it right under the rnds in white.

2. Using about 1 yard of red yarn, attach the oval pieces to the main cozy. Center one below the front panel piece, and the other two on either side of it, just over an inch away from it.

3. Using about 1 yard of gold yarn, attach the head pieces. The red stripes of the side pieces should be facing inward. The two narrow ends of the center head piece should touch the side pieces when you attach them.

With all your pieces attached, you are finally done! You now have your very own Queen Padme Amidala coffee cozy. Now go forth, and have some coffee.
