Star Wars Crochet Cozy Series – Part 17 – Obi-Wan Kenobi

Master and Mentor

Hello everyone! I have a new Star Wars cozy for you all today! I’ll just jump right into it.

I just finished publishing the Luke Skywalker coffee cozy, so I thought it only fitting to follow that up with his mentor Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was a tough call on which version of his costume to make, but as usual, I defaulted to the earliest versions from the original trilogy films. So I give you, Obi-Wan Kenobi from A New Hope! (Be sure to click on the image below and check out the Star Wars site with the character bio.)

Notes and Abbreviations

Notes:

  1. The cozy is made of 4 pieces: the main cozy, 2 arms, and 1 lightsaber piece.
  2. The arms and saber pieces are optional; the main cozy looks enough like Obi-Wan to work on its own.
  3. The cozy is worked in back-and-forth rounds.
  4. In the main cozy, the first chain of each round does not count as the first stitch.
  5. The numbers in the brackets at the end of the instructions note the number of stitches that need to be in that round upon completion.
  6. An increase is 2 single crochets made into 1 stitch.

Abbreviations:

  • Ch(s) = chain(s)
  • Sl st(s) = slip stitch(es)
  • Sc(s) = single crochet(s)
  • Hdc(s) = half double crochet(s)
  • Dc(s) = double crochet(s)

Assemble the Cozy

If you decided to make the arms and lightsaber too, aat this point ou’ll be ready to assemble the pieces.

Now, just like Luke and Yoda, Obi-Wan seems to be right handed. This means his right hand will be higher up on the lightsaber than his left hand. Attach the arms, with the shoulders just behind the mid-point of the cozy and the arms coming around the cozy to the front. Use about 1 to 1 1/2 yards of Red Heart Super Saver in coffee on the tapestry needle to attach the arms.

The lightsaber comes next. The ‘blade’ should be up along his ‘head’ on the right side with the handle just under his hands. Use about 1/2 to 1 yard of blue yarn to attach the lightsaber.
