Star Wars Temperature Blankets Project – Movie 1 – Part 3
Forever and a Day
Hello everyone! It has been forever since I’ve written up a post for the Family Craft Studio blog. Tisk tisk, I know! I’ve made myself too busy with projects and scheduled family time to really commit to writing, but I want to show you all some progress on some of the ongoing projects. For today, I’m going to update on a couple of months of the Star Wars, A New Hope, Temperature Blanket. So let’s jump right into it!
Changing Colors
There is one thing that I found as a challenge as I was working through the next month. One of my chosen yarns for a set of temperatures was discontinued! So I had to find a replacement for it that would fit between the two colors around it. It took me forever, but I found one that works, even if it isn’t exactly like the one I had listed before.
As you can see in the image below, the yarns on either side are the one before and after in the temperature sequence: Red Heart Super Saver in Gold and Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Terracotta. The one in the middle is the old color.
The color that needed replacing was Big Twist Yarns Premium in Premium Yam. I replaced it with Lion Brand Lion’s Pride Woolspun in Pumpkin.
In the picture below, the color that looks more yellowish is the old one, Premium Yam, the one to the left. The one on the right, is the new one, Pumpkin.
Marching on to March
So what was the setting I chose for March’s temperatures? The Lars family homestead on Tatooine was shot in Chott el Djerid, Nefta, Tunisia. The closest location with documented temperatures I could find for March of 1977 was from the nearby Djerba, Tunisia. Below is the chart used for that month with the temperatures. I printed mine out to make it easier to follow along and write on.
I gotta say…I just love the colors that were used that month. Look how pretty it is!
What’s Next?
In the next blog post I’ll be showing you what April came out looking like. For that one too, there was a yarn change, so keep an eye out for that if you’re following along.
You can find the post for January here and February here.
