Star Wars Temperature Blankets Project – Movie 1 – Part 9

Death Valley

Hello everyone! I have another panel done for the Star Wars “A New Hope” Temperature Blanket. This panel features the temperatues for the month of September 1977 in Death Valley. According to the site “Wookieepedia”, the shots filmed here were originally supposed to be filmed in Tunisia, but ended up having to be shot in Death Valley instead. There are a few scenes where R2-D2 is looking for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s hut and where Luke and Ben are overlooking Mos Eisley.

Cooling Down

If you look at the chart below, you can see that the temperatures for that month are slowly cooling down. This creates the effect of a consistent rows of the same color until the next range of temperatures is reached and the color can finally change. In the end, the panel only required four colors, one of the most solid blocks of color I’ve had throughout the whole blanket so far.

Previous Months

Let’s do a quick summary of the months we’ve gone over so far. You can click on the months to see the blog posts where those month are covered; you can get the chart for that month in each post.

Until Next Time

Be sure to check back next week because I’ll be posting the next panel that covers the temperatures for the location of the ILM Studio in 1977.
